March 3, 2025 – High school junior Max Kopp, a 17-year-old innovator from Germantown Academy, has secured a major investment from Crown Wealth LLC to advance his startup, Vitasense, which is developing a non-invasive wearable glucose monitor.
The funding, secured in collaboration with KB Global Holding Limited and top research institutions, will allow Vitasense to refine its third-generation prototype, complete regulatory approvals, and conduct large-scale clinical testing. The company aims to bring its needle-free glucose monitoring technology to market, offering a painless alternative to traditional finger-prick tests and continuous glucose monitors (CGMs)."We’re not just creating a wearable device; we’re reimagining how diabetes care can be managed in daily life," Kopp said. "This funding will accelerate our efforts to make our technology available to those who need it most."
A Pioneering Approach to Diabetes Care
Vitasense’s technology is based on polarized light optical sensing, which measures glucose levels through the skin without requiring blood samples or implants. The device uses nanomaterials to detect glucose concentrations in interstitial fluids, providing real-time monitoring without discomfort. The company is working with leading biomedical engineers and healthcare professionals to ensure its device meets regulatory standards and provides accuracy comparable to existing CGMs. If successful, the technology could also be adapted for monitoring hydration levels, metabolic disorders, and other biomarkers, expanding its potential impact beyond diabetes care.
Investment Signals Confidence in Young Innovator
Representatives from Crown Wealth LLC said they were impressed with Kopp’s ability to bridge scientific research and business strategy at such a young age."Max Kopp and his team at Vitasense have demonstrated an extraordinary level of commitment and ingenuity," a Crown Wealth spokesperson said. "We believe in their vision and are proud to support them as they push forward in developing this essential healthcare technology."The investment will fund:
✔ Prototype refinements to improve performance and usability.
✔ Regulatory submissions for market approval.
✔ Clinical trials to validate the technology’s accuracy and safety.
✔ Manufacturing scale-up for future commercial production.
With diabetes rates rising worldwide, investors see a growing market for non-invasive glucose monitoring solutions.
From Science Fairs to Startup Leadership
Kopp’s interest in wearable biosensors began with his research on light polarization and nanomaterials. His work has earned recognition in national and international science competitions, including:
