TOULOUSE, France, and BOSTON, Mass. – REEV, a pioneering medtech startup redefining mobility support with intelligent, lightweight wearable robotics, today announced a $9.2 million funding round to accelerate its mission of transforming assistance for patients with mobility challenges, initially focusing on those affected by neurological conditions.
The funding round was led by Newfund Heka, Polytechnique Ventures, Irdi Capital, with additional backing from Techstars and a distinguished group of business angels and healthcare operators. Notable contributors, gathered by multi-family office Scala Patrimoine, include French soccer player Raphaël Varane and knee surgeon Dr. Hervé Silbert. This significant investment marks a pivotal moment for REEV, fueling its mission to revolutionize mobility and restore independence for millions of patients worldwide.
REEV’s technological portfolio includes two key solutions:
- REEV SENSE, an advanced motion sensor system that attaches to a patient’s shoe or leg, delivering precise spatiotemporal and kinematic gait analysis.
- DREEVEN, a cutting-edge wearable robotics system utilizing electro-hydraulic technology to provide highly personalized knee assistance.
The company’s approach addresses key limitations of existing exoskeleton technologies by reducing device weight, lowering costs, and enhancing personalization. With the first DREEVEN series expected to launch in 2026, REEV is poised to disrupt the traditional orthotics industry and deliver groundbreaking healthcare outcomes.
Recent achievements highlight REEV’s readiness to scale:
- Completion of a clinical study at MIT’s Center for Clinical and Translational Research, funded through a grant from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI),
- Production of the first 100 REEV SENSE commercial units, accompanied by FDA and CE medical certifications.
- Building and testing DREEVEN’s first functional units on users with gait disorders.
The new funding will be allocated to finalize the miniaturization and industrialization of DREEVEN, conduct a pivotal clinical study at the Neuromotor Recovery Lab at Boston University’s Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences under the leadership of Dr. Lou Awad, and prepare for extensive U.S. trials aimed at achieving FDA clearance.
"With the support of our world-class partners, we are thrilled to enter the next phase of clinical and industrial development," said Amaury Ciurana, Co-Founder and CEO of REEV. "Our innovative technologies, like the DREEVEN motorized orthosis, aim to redefine mobility assistance, transforming lives and reshaping the orthotics industry."
“We are proud to continue supporting REEV as they work toward FDA clearance to bring their technology to market in the U.S. This marks a key milestone in improving mobility for neurological patients,” said Anne-Sophie Saint-Martin, Partner at Newfund.
