Boston Scientific CFO Dan Brennan is set to retire and will transition out of the role at the end of June, the company said Wednesday. Jon Monson, Boston Scientific’s senior vice president for investor relations, will replace Brennan as CFO effective June 30.
Brennan has worked at Boston Scientific for almost 30 years. The company made Brennan CFO at the start of 2014.
Brennan’s retirement will break up a long-serving duo at the top of Boston Scientific. Mike Mahoney took up the CEO post in 2012 and still holds the job. On an earnings call Wednesday, Mahoney said Brennan had been “instrumental in transforming the trajectory of our financial performance.”
Brennan will continue as a senior adviser through early October and work with Monson to ensure a smooth transition, Boston Scientific said. In the new position, Monson will be responsible for areas such as global controllership and corporate business development.
Monson has worked at Boston Scientific for more than 25 years, serving as chief accounting officer until March 2024, when he moved to the investor relations team. Boston Scientific named Monson senior vice president for investor relations last year as part of changes that made Lauren Tengler the global controller for its urology unit.
Mahoney said on the earnings call this week that that Tengler is returning to the investor relations team to succeed Monson. Tengler was vice president of investor relations before leaving for the urology unit.
Boston Scientific shared news of Brennan’s retirement alongside its quarterly earnings. Mahoney told investors the company expects the Trump administration’s tariffs to have a $200 million impact this year. Despite the financial pressure, Mahoney said Boston Scientific is “very bullish” on the year.
